Privacy policy

Raw Smith is built so that we never see your photos or anything about them. There is no Raw Smith account, no server of ours that stores your information, no analytics and no advertising.

What the app stores, and where

• Your photos and edits stay on your device. On the Mac, Raw Smith keeps a reference to each original where you imported it from. On iPhone and iPad it keeps a copy inside the app, visible in the Files app. The library of edits, ratings, flags, labels, keywords and albums, and the previews it makes, are stored on the device.
• iCloud sync is optional. When it's on, your library is stored in your own private iCloud database through Apple's CloudKit, under your Apple Account and your iCloud storage, and downloaded by your other devices signed in to the same account. We have no access to it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
• AI features run on your device. Subject, sky, people, face and object masks, and the culling hints (focus, closed eyes, similar photos), are made with Apple's Vision framework on your device. Nothing is uploaded to make them.
• Agents (MCP) are local and off by default. On the Mac you can let an AI assistant use your library in Settings › Agents. It connects only through a local connection on your Mac; Raw Smith opens no network port. What the assistant reads, including previews of your photos, goes to the AI service that assistant uses, under that service's terms. Raw Smith never sends it to us, and agents never receive your original RAW files.
• Shortcuts and Spotlight. Shortcuts actions and Spotlight indexing run on your device through Apple's frameworks.

What we collect

Nothing from the app. It has no analytics, no crash reporting of its own, no advertising identifiers and no third-party SDKs, and it makes no network requests to us.

If you choose to share crash reports or TestFlight feedback with developers, Apple passes them to us as described in Apple's terms. Purchases are handled entirely by the App Store; we receive no payment details.

This website

rawsmith.app is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes requests (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site, as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy. The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when it serves them.

If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.

Your choices

• Turn iCloud sync off at any time in Settings. You can also remove downloaded originals from a device.
• Agents stay off unless you turn them on, and you choose what they may do.
• Deleting the app deletes its library and previews from that device. Originals referenced on the Mac are never touched.

Children

Raw Smith collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
