Keyboard shortcuts and Speed Edit
Raw Smith is built to cull and edit from the keyboard on Mac and on iPad with a keyboard: P, X and U flag, 0–5 rate, and holding a key such as E while you scroll adjusts that slider.
Most shortcuts are menu commands, so on a Mac you'll find them in the Photo and Develop menus, and on iPad you can hold ⌘ to see them. Single-key shortcuts are ignored while you're typing in a text field.
Culling: flags, ratings and labels
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| P | Pick |
| X | Reject |
| U | Unflag |
| 0 | No rating |
| 1 – 5 | One to five stars |
| 6 | Red label |
| 7 | Yellow label |
| 8 | Green label |
| 9 | Blue label |
| [ / ] | Previous / next photo |
Pressing a label's key again removes the label. Purple has no key; set it from the Label menu or the right-click menu. To move on automatically after each flag or rating, turn on Advance After Flagging and Advance After Rating in the Photo menu. See Culling.

Speed Edit: hold a key and scroll
Speed Edit changes a slider without going to the panel. Hold one of these keys, with no modifier, and scroll with a mouse wheel or trackpad, or drag on the photo. A readout at the top of the photo shows the slider and its value. Let go of the key to stop.
| Hold | Slider |
|---|---|
| E | Exposure |
| C | Contrast |
| H | Highlights |
| S | Shadows |
| W | Whites |
| B | Blacks |
| T | Temperature |
| V | Vibrance |
| A | Saturation |
On a Mac, if you press and release a key without scrolling, it does its usual job. On iPad, Speed Edit works with a hardware keyboard and a trackpad scroll or a drag on the photo.
Slider tricks
- Double-click or double-tap a slider's name, value or knob to reset it.
- Click a slider's value to type an exact number.
